Royal Scots Dragoon Guards Museum
Edinburgh Castle, Edinburgh
Situated within the walls of the famous Edinburgh Castle is the Royal Scots Dragoon
Guards Museum which exhibits a wide range of regimental artifacts spanning 330 years
of history. Experience the history from Scotland's only Cavalry Regiment and discover
the wars and other engagements in which the Regiments were involved, dating dating
back to 1678. Medals, uniforms, personal items, archives and photographs are just
some of the artifacts on display which covers the Battle of Waterloo (1815), the
Crimean War, and latter battles of the 19th century such as the Nile Expedition
(1884-85) and Abyssinia, the South African War of 1899-1902 and the First and Second
World Wars. Well presented displays of uniformed figures, paintings and regimental
trophies are also present at the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards Museum, as well as interactive
displays that take the visitor right up to the Regiment’s most recent involvement
in Iraq and continue today with their motto "Second to None".
