Music Festival - Eden Court, Inverness, Scotland
The Inverness Music Festival is a competitive festival which provides opportunities
for people of all ages and abilities to develop their potential in a wide range
of musical events. Held annually over 10 days in March, competitive classes cover
a large number of disciplines including instrumental, vocal, gaelic, speech and
scottish. All the classes throughout the Festival are open to the public and are
staged in a variety of venues in Eden Court.

- Thursday 11th March 2010 - Sunday 28th March 2010: Magners
Glasgow International Comedy Festival - Glasgow, Scotland
Now in its eighth year, the UK's largest comedy festival takes place over 18 days
in March and attracts the best comedians from the UK and abroad - the likes of French
and Saunders, Joan Rivers, Jimmy Carr, Ross Noble and Frankie Boyle have all performed
at the Magners Glasgow International Comedy Festival in the past. Last year's was
the biggest festival yet, with 75,000 tickets sold for 347 shows in 51 venues across
the city, and 2010 is promises to be even better!

- Wednesday 17th March 2010 - Sunday 21st March 2010: StAnza
2010 - St Andrews, Scotland
StAnza is a celebration of poetry in its many forms with plenty of fun events and
activities packed into five days. Scotland's only established festival focusing
on poetry, StAnza includes many other art forms, from music to drama, from dance
to visual art with the 2010 event exploring the themes of Myth & Legend and
The Director's Cut. In total more than 60 poets will take part in the festival,
coming from all over the world - Canada, USA, Germany, Italy, Spain, Cuba, Croatia,
Australia, Ireland and from all over Scotland and the UK. Highlights include Poetry
Breakfasts, lively late night sessions, exhibitions, workshops, collaborations with
musicians, poetry film, children's events and various public participation events.

- Friday 26th March 2010 - Sunday 18th April 2010: Ceilidh Culture
- Edinburgh, Scotland
Ceilidh Culture is Edinburgh's annual traditional arts festival celebrating all
aspects of the traditional arts from music, song and dance to storytelling, interactive
workshops and exhibitions.

- Saturday 27th March 2010: The Mighty Deerstalker
- Traquair House
An adventure running event of 5km and 10km runs, and an event fringe and party.
The runs take place in the late afternoon and the 10km run goes into darkness, adding
to the uniqueness of this challenge. There is a post-race party with a beer tent,
complete with Traquair's locally brewed draft beer, plus local bands. People stay
overnight the night before the races and after the party.

Scotland Events in April 2010
- Friday 9th April 2010 - Sunday 11th April 2010: Orkney Ceilidh
Weekend - Kirkwall, Orkney
The Orkney Traditional Dance Association have organised a programme of dance events
with various dance workshops throughout the day including the popular Scottish Country,
Old Time, Ballroom and Shetland Folk. The evening Ceilidhs bring each day to a conclusion
with music from local bands.

- Saturday 16th April 2010 - Sunday 17th June 2010: Scottish
Grand National - Ayr Race Course, Ayr, Scotland
The highlight and climax of the Scottish horseracing calendar takes place in the
lovely seaside town of Ayr every April and culminates in the dramatic cavalry charge
of the Grand National, one of the most exciting races you can experience and a favourite
with gamblers across the UK.

- Friday 16th April 2010 - 3rd May 2010: Glasgow International
Festival of Visual Art - Glasgow, Scotland
Glasgow International Festival of Visual Art is a unique event in the cultural calendar.
Taking place in the city every other year, the Festival comprises groundbreaking
and dynamic presentations in contemporary visual art practice, across a range of
exhibitions, public projects, talks, performances and screenings by both local and
international artists.

- Thursday 29th April 2010 - Sunday 2nd May 2010: Highlands
and Islands, Music and Dance Festival - Oban, Scotland
Held since 1984 with the aim to encourage young talent to participate in and develop
the traditional arts of music and dance of the highlands and islands of Scotland,
the festival has since developed to include new special events and competitions.
The Highlands and Islands, Music and Dance Festival now offers over 1100 participants
125 competition classes in twelve disciplines including piping, accordion, fiddle,
clarsach, piano, recorder, woodwind & brass, singing, Scottish country dancing,
Highland dancing and choreography.

- Murrayfield Stadium
The Murrayfield Magic weekend is a unique opportunity for rugby league fans to travel
to one city and witness not only their own club but all the clubs in the league
in one location.

- Saturday 1st May 2010: Scottish Pipe Band Championships
- Levengrove Park, Dumbarton, Scotland
Starting at 9.00 am and held on the banks of the River Clyde in Dumbarton with Dumbarton
Rock as a dramatic backdrop, the Scottish Pipe Band Championships is a fantastic
day of colour, spectacle, fun and music. The first of the year's championship-ranked
piping events (one of five staged annually by the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association),
the event attracts over 140 pipe bands from Britain, Europe and further afield.
This spectacular event celebrates iconic Scottish culture and tradition and features
funfairs, village stalls and many other attractions.

- Friday 28th May 2010 - Sunday 30th May 2010: 3 Harbours Seafood
Festival - Cockenzie, Scotland
The 3 Harbours Seafood Festival is a 3 day celebration of East Lothian's rich fishing
community, industry, culture and heritage. The Friday night opens with a seafood
supper and ceilidh dance. Saturday is the main event with the Seafood Festival held
in a large arena space called the Greenbelt situated on the shoreline of Prestonpans.
The arena will host 30 stalls of seafood stalls and it will also host an art exhibition
and arts and crafts marquee with 15 stalls.

- Friday 28th May 2010 - Monday 31st May 2010: Brewin Dolphin
Scottish Series - Tarbert, Loch Fyne
Last years event featured 160 yachts taking part in 138 races over the four days,
and 15 different classes of yacht. As well as all the action on the water, there
are activities organised ashore for family/crew support who may not be racing as
well as musical entertainment and other activities following each day's racing.
This has included canoeing and dinghy sailing organised for children, face painting,
aerobatic display, highland music and a fabulous fireworks display over Tarbert
on the Saturday evening.

Walking Festival - Angus Glens, Scotland
Get your walking boots on and discover the hidden treasures of this enigmatic part
of Scotland as well as keeping fit. The Angus Glens Walking Festival is an award
winning 4 day festival and a key event in Scotland's outdoor activities calendar.
Each year the festival includes evening entertainment as well as walks to suit all
tastes and abilities, led by experienced mountain leaders, guides, Countryside Rangers
and Estate Managers who enhance the walks with their knowledge of local history,

2010 - Royal Highland Centre, Scotland
Gardening Scotland is the national gardening and outdoor living show and the biggest
gardening event in Scotland. For more than a decade it has been bringing together
top plant growers and talented designers in one glorious show where gardeners can
find everything that they need to make their garden grow. Gardening Scotland 2010
is the ideal place to take inspiration on how to make the most of your own outdoor

- Saturday 5th June 2010 - Sunday 6th June 2010: Heart of Scotland
Airshow 2010 - Perth Airport, Scotland
2010 sees a Centenary milestone in Scottish Aviation History and the 800th birthday
of the Royal Burgh of Perth many other notable anniversaries. Perth Airport wants
to Pay tribute to these marvelous achievements, and what better way than with an
airshow. The Heart of Scotland Airshow 2010 will be staged over 2 days - 5th and
6th June 2010 at Perth Airport. The aim of this event is to mark these wonderful
aviation anniversaries in style so that in 100 years time they will look back and
think that 2010 was just as special as 1910.

- Saturday 5th June 2010 - Sunday 6th June 2010: UCI Moutain
Bike World Cup - Nevis Range Ski Area and Leanachan Forest
The 2 wheelers take over Nevis Range Ski Area for two days as they compete in the
tough competition of the UCI Moutain Bike World Cup. As well as plenty of exciting
action, on Saturday night there is a party in the Fort at Fort William.

- Thursday 10th June 2010 - Sunday 13th June 2010: Scottish
Hydro Challenge - Macdonald Spey Valley Golf Club, Scotland, Aviemore,
Scotland
The spectacular Macdonald Spey Valley Golf Club, in Aviemore, hosts the Scottish
Hydro challenge - a platform for the next generation of Ryder Cup stars and now
in its fifth year, the tournament regularly attracts a strong field comprising some
of the most promising Challenge Tour players.
- Saturday 26th June 2010 - Sunday 27th June 2010: SPEA FIM
Trial World Championship - Nevis Range, Scotland
The spectacular and scenic setting at Nevis Range just outside Fort William hosts
the 2010 SPEA FIM Trial World Championship taking place on 26 - 27 June.
- Friday 11th June 2010 - Sunday 13th June 2010: Rockness
- Dores, near Inverness
Camp out for a weekend on the banks of Loch Ness and be prepared for a fantastic
lineup of artists as Rockness 2010 promises to be the best festival yet. Confirmed
artists included The Strokes, 2 Many DJs and Friendly Fires. There are full bars

- Wednesday 16th June 2010 - Sunday 27th June 2010: Edinburgh
International Film Festival - Edinburgh
Since 1947 as one of the world's first international film festivals, the Edinburgh
International Film Festival (EIFF) has helped to define this type of event which
has since become so pivotal to film culture in nations all over the world. With
an emphasis upon new talent, discovery and innovation, EIFF's vibrant 11 day programme
of premieres, special events and parties has an ongoing stake in the development
of the UK and Scottish film industries.

- Thursday 17th June 2010 - Sunday 20th June 2010: Borders Book
Festival - Harmony House and Gardens, Melrose
The 4 day Borders Book Festival will comprise around 60 author events with numerous
prestigious writers. There will be a Family Book Festival during the festival weekend
with writers, whose work will appeal to families with children aged between 3 and
14 years, appearing in a range of events, including storytelling and creative workshops.

- Sunday 20th June 2010: British Pipe Band Championships
- Thursday 24th June 2010 - Sunday 27th June 2010: Royal Highland
Show - Royal Highland Centre, Edinburgh
The show is regarded as one of the UK's top agricultural events. It is a stalwart
of the Scottish agricultural calendar but is also Scotland's biggest outdoor event
attracting visitors of all ages for what is regarded as a great day out.

- Friday 25th June 2010 - Sunday 27th June 2010: FIM Motorcycle
Trials World Championships - Nevis Range
The Motorcycle Trials World Championships is a worldwide series with three classes
- Youth/Junior/Pro. Competitors range from 16 yrs upwards and there are approximately
20 competitors in each class. It is a two day event which takes place on manmade
and natural course sections. The event will take place around Nevis Range with the
main car park area being used as an event village and trade team area.
Scotland Events in July 2010
- Saturday 3rd July 2010: Haddington Show - Haddington,
Scotland
A fun day for all the family with livestock and horse classes, vintage machinery,
falconry display, sheep-shearing demonstration, cookery demonstration, crafts and
produce.

- Sunday 4th July 2010: Ceolas Music Festival - South
Uist
Ceòlas is a music and dance summer school featuring expert tuition in piping, fiddling,
singing, Scotch reels and Quadrilles, step dancing and the Gaelic language. Ceòlas
explores the vital connections between Scottish traditional music, Gaelic song and
dance while allowing ample opportunity for participants to enjoy all these art forms
in cèilidhs and in homes, the places which fostered them.

- Thursday 8th July 2010 - Sunday 11th July 2010: The Barclays
Scottish Open - Loch Lomond Golf Course, Glasgow
The Scottish Open has been played at Loch Lomond since 1996, just two years after
the course was opened. In that short time the tournament and the venue have grown
in stature, with brilliant notices from the world's best golfers, to become a highlight
of the European Tour.

Vintage Vehicle Exravaganza - Glamis Castle
The Scottish Vintage Vehicle Transport Extravaganza is an exhibition of classic
and vintage vehicles held each year in the grounds of Glamis Castle with the castle
as backdrop, it makes a wonderful family day out.

Hebridean Maritime Festival - Stornoway, Isle of Lewis
Sail Hebrides lets young people enjoy, understand and respect the marine environment
by providing fun, educational sailing experiences and maritime festivals. The Hebridean
Maritime Festival is held annually in Stornoway, the main town on the Hebridean
island of Lewis. Held during the Tall Ships Race, the Annual Hebridean Maritime
Festival include ceildhs, races, exhibitions, music and various cultural entertainment.

Celtic Festival - Stornoway, Isle of Lewis
The Hebridean Celtic Festival is an international Celtic music festival which takes
place annually in Stornoway on Lewis. The biggest headliners to date have been Runrig,
The Waterboys, Proclaimers and Van Morrison. Join us at the Hebridean Celtic Festival
for our 15th anniversary celebration in one of the most unique settings in the world.
Over four days, international artists, solo artists and local musicians from all
over the world will perform and the Fesitval also offers workshops, street arts,
Gaelic storytelling, language tasters, and opportunities to explore areas rich culture
and heritage.

- Saturday 18th July 2010 - Sunday 19th July 2010: The Rat Race
Urban Adventure - Edinburgh
The Rat Race is an urban adventure challenge that turns cities into high-adrenaline
adventure playgrounds for participants of all abilities. The Rat Race 2004 was the
UK's first urban adventure race and Edinburgh is now the 'home' of the Rat Race
with 8 events taking place throughout the UK in 2008. Anyone can enter and teams
of three and pairs will hike, bike, abseil, climb, kayak and navigate their way
around the streets, structures, waterways and urban landscapes of Scotland's coolest
cities. The essence of the Rat Race is to provide a suitably tough event that remains
a realistic target for amateur outdoor enthusiasts. The format of the race falls
over 2 days:
Day 1 consists of a night time prologue event (orienteering style event around the
city)
Day 2: Racers begin early and take in a number of adventure sports such as sea kayaking,
climbing, mountain biking and assailing. They cover approx 100km of Edinburgh taking
in some of the main landmarks in the city. Racers finish up in the event village
in Princes St Gardens.

- Thursday 22nd July 2010 - Sunday 25th July 2010: The Senior
Open Championship - Carnoustie
Since the inaugural tournament in 1987 The Senior Open Championship has become firmly
established on The Seniors world golfing calendar with its popular blend of fierce
competition, relaxed atmosphere and camaraderie. The 2010 Senior Open Championship
comes to the magnificent layout at Carnoustie where Loren Roberts will defend the
title he won at Sunningdale last year. The Championship is sanctioned by The R&A,
European Senior Tour and The Champions Tour and is recognised as one of golf's five
Seniors Majors.

- Friday 6th August 2010 - Saturday 7th August 2010: Tartan
Heart Festival - Beauly
The Tartan Heart Festival is a music festival held since 2004 and is well known
for its wide ranging musical scope and family friendly atmosphere. There is a large
dedicated family camp-site, as well as free entry for children under the age of
12. Previous acts that have played at the festival include Embrace, The Automatic,
The Proclaimers, Arlo Guthrie, The Peatbog Faeries and many more. As well as the
main stages, there are a wide range of stalls small acts including one man bands,
alternative therapy tents, barbers, yoga and dance tuition, not to mention the 'Miniscule
of Sound', the worlds smallest nightclub!

Mela - Edinburgh
Edinburgh Mela is Scotland's biggest intercultural festival and 2010 promises to
be a dazzling display of international and local talent. Savour tastes from across
the globe at the many food stalls, enjoy dazzling dance, fablous theatre and a whole
load of musical styles as some of the best performers around hit town, or simply

Festival Fringe - various venues in Edinburgh
The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is the biggest arts festival in the world and offers
something for everyone: theatre, comedy, music, dance, exhibitions and much more
over the three weeks it is held in August each year. The event began in 1947 when
eight theatre groups turned up uninvited to the first Edinburgh International Festival
and now means that anyone with a story to tell and a venue willing to host them
can come to Edinburgh as part of the Fringe. The festival caters for everyone from
the biggest names in showbiz to the performers in the street.

Military Tattoo - Edinburgh Castle
2010 marks the Diamond Jubilee year of Edinburgh's celebrated Royal Military Tattoo.
Against the backdrop of Edinburgh Castle, this landmark 60th anniversary celebration
will feature talent from the four continents including pipers, gymnasts, singers,
dancers and an amazing motorcycle display team. The emphasis will be on music with
a rich variety on offer - 2010 aims to be the world's most spectacular Tattoo host
a celebration.

- Friday 13th August 2010 - Sunday 5th September 2010: Edinburgh
International Festival - Edinburgh
Every year for three weeks the Edinburgh International Festival transforms one of
the world's most beautiful cities, with the six major theatres and concert halls
and a few smaller venues comming alive with the best classical music, theatre, opera,
dance and visual art from around the globe. The 2010 programme will feature the
finest creators and performers from the worlds of the arts: theatre, music, opera,
dance and the visual arts highlights Scotland's influence on some of the world's
great artists and artistic endeavours, and reflects on that extraordinary moment
in Scottish history considered the foundation of much of modern thinking.
