Shopping in Edinburgh
Whatever you're after in Edinburgh you will find something to suit. From popular
outdoor shopping high streets like Princes Street, fashionable designer boutiques
of the West End and up-market chic of the New Town, there are so many shops and
just so little time!
Edinburgh is also home to Scotland's only Harvey Nichols which can be found next
to Edinburgh's modern and luxurious designer boulevard - Multrees Walk, which is
just 2 minutes from Princes Street.
If you want to stand out from the crowd with something unique and one-off, check
out WM Armstrongs & Son in the Grassmarket, packed with vintage gowns and retro
gems.
Princes Street
The main shopping street in Edinburgh. On the north side are all the main department
stores such as Debenhams, Fraser, BHS, Marks & Spencers. On the south side are
the beautiful Princes Street Gardens in the shadow of the breathtaking Edinburgh
Castle, so why not do some shopping on Princes Street, before visiting the gardens
and then exploring the castle? 'The Mound' is a road leading off Princes Street
on the south side where you will find the famous Floral Clock.
George Street
George Street, in the heart of New Town is a vibrant shopping area with an upmarket
culture. Offering some of the premier shops in Scotland, these include Harvey Nichols
of St Andrew Square. There are plenty of boutique shops and chic clothes shops in
George Street so ideal if you're after something a little unique.
St Andrew's Square
On the eastern end of St Andrew's Square you will find the Multrees Walk, the equivalent
of London's Bond Street which houses the premium brands such as Armani, Louis Vuitton
and Mulberry stores.
Grassmarket
Nestled in the heart of Edinburgh's historic Old Town is the Grassmarket area, packed
with independent merchants, designers and artisans this is where to look for second-hand
and antique art, jewellery and books.
Royal Mile
The famous and historic Royal Mile is probably Edinburgh’s oldest street and goes
through the Old Town and is approximently one mile in length. Highlights include
the fine Scottish malt at the Royal Mile Whiskies and a variety of knitwear at the
Geoffrey.
